WELCOME TO HIROSHIMAHiroshima is located in the center of the Chugoku Region on the western edge of the main island of Japan.Its population is 2.8 million. Prefectural Capital is Hiroshima City - the region's largest, an ordinance-designated city. Some people say Hiroshima is a mirocosm of Japan: Its major industry is manufacturing, such as automotive manufacturing, shipbuilding, etc. The commerce is prosperous too, because most major companies open their branch offices or subsidiaries in Hiroshima. It is also surrounded by nature, such as the Seto Island Sea and the Chugoku Mountains, which affords many agricultural farms and fisheries. Hiroshima is popular with tourists too. Itsukushima Shinto Shrine (Miyajima) and Hiroshima Peace Memorial (Genbaku Dome) are famous and certified as World heritage sites. Same famous specialties of Hiroshima are "oyster", "okonomiyaki" and "maple buns". For Japanese rice wine "Sake" funs, The Sake Town SAIJO - one of the top three Sake production centers in Japan - is too good to pass up. For sports funs, "Hiroshima Toyo Carp" (baseball) , "Sanfrecce Hiroshima F.C" (football), "JT Thunders"(volley ball) sport teams are beloved by the residents. |
